JHA’s Critical Health Literacy Cirriculum

Just Health Action teaches an innovative curriculum based on a critical health literacy framework. This framework not only teaches students what the social determinants of health are, but also provides them with the means to take action on them.

JHA has developed and taught a critical health literacy program in diverse educational settings including:

  • Graduate and undergraduate university courses,
  • Secondary schools,
  • Community health centers, and
  • An after-school program for low income Latina youth

The length of our programs  have ranged from a single two-hour class, to a 12-week, 100-hour course.

Topics we have covered include obesity, housing, environmental justice, racism, income inequality, globalization and others.
