Environmental Justice and Science Podcast Series
COVID-19 restrictions made it tough to do community engagement in the Duwamish Valley in our regular ways. So, this past year, we tried something new. We hosted a podcast series called Our River, Our Community: What’s Science Got to Do with It? to get the word out in both English and Spanish.
The podcast series is a community outreach and educational series about the intersections of science and environmental justice. It focuses on case studies of the Duwamish River’s various Superfund sites, with thematic focuses on environmental remediation, pollution control (source control), flooding, and Duwamish Waterway Park provided by invited experts in relevant professional fields.
Duwamish River Community Coalition hosted the podcast series calling it La Voz de la Justicia. Co-sponsors were Just Health Action and the University of Washington Superfund Research Program. They were recorded and aired at Amigos de Seattle radio station.
